Yara Hassan

ORIGIN: Syria
LOCATION: UAE
Yara is in her thirties and is originally from Damascus, Syria where she studied English literature and worked as a teacher and translator. Due to the conflict in her home country, Yara had to relocate to Lebanon in 2017. She expresses that the decision to leave her home behind and start anew was rather challenging. Yara held many jobs and joined NaTakallam in 2019. Her Language Sessions utilize both traditional language teaching methods and the opportunities that the online setting provides! In her free time, Yara enjoys reading, writing, swimming, playing chess, and dancing.

Maria Aprahamian

ORIGIN: Lebanon
LOCATION: Lebanon
Maria was born in Lebanon and moved to Armenia for some time due to the conflict in Lebanon; however, the recent war in Armenia forced her to return to Lebanon with her 10 year old daughter – now 14. She has a degree in English Literature and Language, and has been an English teacher for a Lebanese school for several years. Maria feels she is a socially active person but television is her point of weakness. She looks forward to working with new students!
