Mumen Shafiq
FROM: Palestine
Mumen is a Software Engineer who has been involved in the translation and content writing field since the age of 15. In 2013, he began his career as a freelancer, quickly establishing a strong reputation by working with several prominent firms in the UAE and Qatar. His expertise spans legal, technical, and everyday-life translations. By 2016, Mumen became the top-ranked freelancer on the UAE platform Nabbesh. In 2017, he reached another milestone by joining MercyCorps and IRC in their Refugee.Info project. Currently, Mumen works with NaTakallam, where he provides translation services and creates content for a diverse range of clients. Most recently, he was forced to flee to Rafah and finally escaped to Egypt with his family – thanks in part to the crowdfunding campaign launched by one of his NaTakallam students.
Tah Bi Irie Fulgence
FROM: Côte d’Ivoire, currently living in Germany.
During the post electoral crisis that degenerated into a civil war in 2011, I fled to Ghana, where I lived as a refugee till July 2022. In 2013, I benefited from the Doctor Einstein Scholarship ( DAFI), which allowed me to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Banking and finance. Thereafter , I became a UN Volunteer, at the United Nations Capital Development Fund (Accra, Ghana). In May 2020, I became a CP (conversation Partner) and freelance Translator/Interpreter at NaTakallam. Thanks to this opportunity I was able to save money and finance my Master of Arts in Conference Interpreting at the University of Ghana.

FROM: Cameroon
Thècle, a 30-year-old Cameroonian, resides in Yaoundé, the capital city. A dedicated and passionate language professional, she is deeply committed to community engagement, driven by her roots in the crisis-hit South West region of Cameroon.

Francesca Lo Truglio
FROM: Venezuela, currently living in Spain.
Francesca was born in Italy and raised and trained as an interpreter and translator in English, French, Italian and Spanish in Venezuela, where she practiced professionally since 1981 until 2016. Due to many socio-political conflicts in Venezuela, she relocated to Spain. She has managed to become progressively inserted in the Spanish market since then. In her free time, she enjoys reading in her working languages, and doing mobility fitness and social voluntary work for immigrants in Madrid.

Maysaa AlAli
FROM: Syria, currently living in Turkey.
Maysaa was born in Kuwait and is originally from Syria. Growing up in both Kuwait and Syria provided her with a rich and diverse cultural background. A few years ago, she moved to Turkey, where she got married and settled down. With nearly 15 years of experience in simultaneous interpretation, Maysaa is also highly skilled in teaching English as a second language and honing translation techniques. She firmly believes that translation is a lifelong learning journey.
Kwami Ekuka Wussinu
FROM: Togo
Kwami is a Conference interpreter based in Senegal. After graduating with a Master’s degree in American literature in 2009 at Université de Lomé, he started working as a freelance translator in his country, Togo, before being recruited in 2013 as an interpreter and translator at Emmanuel TV in Lagos, Nigeria. Moved by his desire to learn more and excel in his field of expertise, he left Nigeria in 2015 and joined Université Gaston Berger of Saint-Louis in Senegal where he graduated In 2017 with a Master’s degree in Conference Interpreting, thanks to a scholarship from Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and the Panafrican Masters Consortium in Interpretation and Translation (PAMCIT). Since then, he has been working with various organisations, including the World Bank, UN agencies, ECOWAS, as well as institutions of the public and private sector, covering a wide range of topics. Currently, Kwami works with Natakallam where he provides interpretation services on various assignments.

What are the different Translation Service Tiers that you offer?
- HITL – Human-in-the-Loop Translation: Leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs)— commonly known as AI translation—by integrating human translators to refine the output, enhance accuracy, and ensure contextual precision.
- Enhanced HITL Tier with Terminology Management: Building on the human-in-the-Loop (HITL) Tier, this tier incorporates best practices in Terminology Management, including the creation of a custom glossary tailored to your organization and specific subject matter areas. A terminologist will conduct in-depth terminology research and collaborate with your Subject Matter Expert (SME) to ensure consistency and accuracy in specialized terminology and industry-specific jargon.
- Advanced Translation: This service tier follows a rigorous three-step quality process to ensure the highest level of accuracy and reliability in your translations:
- Human Translation: The content is first translated by a professional human translator.
- Second-Pair Review: A second linguist thoroughly reviews the translation for accuracy, coherence, and consistency.

How do you ensure quality?
All translations go through a three-step process: translation, revision, and quality assurance by qualified linguists. For high-visibility or highly specialized content, we also develop linguistic assets such as style guides and glossaries, which are validated by subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure accurate and consistent use of key terminology.
What file formats do you accept?
We work with a variety of file formats including Word, PDF, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as more technical formats such as .idml for designed content and .srt for subtitles. Desktop Publishing (DTP) services are also available upon request.

1. What types of interpretation do you offer?
We offer simultaneous, consecutive, whispered, and remote interpretation. Services can be delivered on-site or online, depending on your needs.
2. What languages do you support?
We provide interpretation in 50+ languages, with a strong focus on Arabic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Ukrainian, Russian, Georgian, Polish, Chinese, Swahili, Turkish, Bangla, Somali, Hindi, Urdu, different sign languages (e.g., International Sign, American Sign Language, Ugandan Sign Language) and other languages commonly used in humanitarian and development settings.
3. What platforms do you support for remote interpretation?
We regularly work on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Interprefy, among others. We’re happy to advise on the best setup based on your platform of choice.
4. How far in advance should we book interpreters?
Ideally, 1–2 weeks in advance, especially for rare language pairs or high-stakes events. Shorter lead times are sometimes possible, depending on availability.
5. What kind of preparation do interpreters need?
We request relevant materials (agendas, speaker notes, presentations, background documents) at least 3–5 days before the event to ensure high-quality delivery.
6. Do you provide interpretation equipment?
For in-person events, we can support sourcing of interpretation equipment (e.g., booths, headsets, microphones) through local partners. For remote events, we advise on technical setup.

Yes! We’re experienced with hybrid setups, ensuring both in-person and remote participants have full access to interpretation.
