What Does It Mean to be “Integrated”?

NaTakallam's Integrated Curriculum

Most Arabic-as-a-foreign-language programs focus on MSA for all four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and add in spoken Arabic later, or not at all. This traditional system leaves many students struggling to communicate verbally, especially when they travel to the region and desire to use the language in everyday settings.

To close this gap between classroom settings and the real world, for close to 4 years, NaTakallam has worked with Dr. Munther Younes from Cornell University – author of the Integrated Curriculum, based on the book ‘Arabiyyat al-Naas’  to bring you an authentic, real-world approach to Arabic learning taught by NaTakallam’s language partners.

Course Details

“I have taken MSA classes before, but felt that speaking in a colloquial way was more difficult. At the same time, I like having a curriculum and a textbook to work from. Having a native speaker helping me through the book but also sharing words and phrases and explaining concepts as they naturally arose was a really fruitful way to learn Arabic.”
